The Ambient Weather WS-5000 is a premium home weather station built around separate outdoor sensors, including an ultrasonic wind sensor, dedicated rain gauge, and temperature/humidity sensor. It includes a color TFT console and connects to AmbientWeather.net for remote monitoring. Its separated sensor design gives buyers more flexibility in where each measurement is installed compared with all-in-one weather stations.
Specifications and compatibility notes are based on manufacturer documentation — not independent Atmosiva testing.
Known limitations
- •Hardware kit (standard and AWN+ Amazon listings): separate outdoor ultrasonic wind sensor, dedicated rain gauge, and outdoor temperature/humidity sensor, plus a TFT color display console and an indoor WH32B thermo-hygrometer/barometer — outdoor sensors mount separately, not as a single all-in-one array
- •Ambient Weather Network (AWN) is Ambient Weather's online platform for viewing and managing weather-station data remotely. AWN+ is Ambient's enhanced subscription tier. Amazon ASIN B0FBPY9NXV currently includes 1 year of AWN+; observed listing benefits include an enhanced/customizable online dashboard, remote access to station data, weather alerts for changing conditions, and community/sharing features. Features and subscription terms can change; verify the current AWN+ offer on Amazon or Ambient Weather before purchase
- •Primary Amazon ASIN B087V6N5WZ is the WS-5000 standard hardware bundle. Secondary ASIN B0FBPY9NXV is the same WS-5000 hardware family with a 1-year AWN+ commercial offer — not a different physical outdoor station model. The subscription start date is subject to the current Amazon/Ambient Weather terms; check the listing for the latest activation details
- •Standard WS-5000 console networking is Wi-Fi per Ambient documentation — Ethernet is not a documented feature of the standard console; verify any networking accessories against your exact SKU
- •Local LAN push depends on Custom Server support and console firmware — not guaranteed on every SKU
Pros
- + Flexible placement of separate outdoor sensors
- + Ultrasonic wind measurement with no moving wind cups
- + Premium TFT color console
- + Supports AmbientWeather.net remote monitoring
- + Broad optional sensor ecosystem
Cons
- − Higher cost than simpler all-in-one stations
- − Installation takes more planning because sensors mount separately
- − Standard console uses Wi-Fi rather than Ethernet
- − Advanced Home Assistant or local integrations can require additional setup
